Course Details
Flat:
Left-handed 1 3/4m oval with easy bends. Uphill 4f run-in places emphasis
on stamina. Can become very testing.
National Hunt:
Left-handed, with uphill finish. Going can be very testing. Circuit
1m6f.
Going Racing at Newcastle Racecourse
By Car:
From the south, bypass Newcastle on the A1. The course is in High Gosforth
Park, 3 miles north of the city centre. From the north, take the Junction
signposted Wideopen. From the east, take the A19 and A1056. Then follow
the Tourist Board brown signs bearing a horse and jockey.
By Train:
From London Kings Cross, take the Great North Eastern service to Newcastle
Central. The station is four miles from the course, and just 15 minutes
in a taxi. Newcastle’s underground Metro runs to South Gosforth,
Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends where free buses run to the course
on racedays.
